Windows XP Dialup Setup Create an Internet connection: To set up a new connection on Windows XP, do the following: On the Desktop, click the Start button and select Control Panel from the menu.
Windows XP gives you the option to view the Control Panel in two different views: Category View and Classic View. Note: To view Classic View, click the Switch to Classic View link or to view the Category View, click the Switch to Category View link.
The Network Connections window appears.
The New Connection Wizard begins. Click the Next button to continue.
Select the option Connect to the Internet. Click the Next button to continue.
Select the option Set up my connection manually. Click the Next button to continue.
Select the option Connect using a dial-up modem. Click the Next button to continue.
ISP Name = Enter MHTC. Click the Next button to continue.
Phone Number = Enter the access number you use to connect to the Internet. A list of available dial in number can be found here. Click the Next button to continue.
Create this connection for = Select the option that suits you best. Click the Next button to continue.
Name = Enter the username you use to
connect to the Internet. Note 1: If you check the box Make this the default Internet connection, you'll be able to connect through Internet Explorer. Note 2: If you do not have a firewall, check the box Turn on Internet Connection Firewall for this connection. Click the Next button to continue.
That's it. You're done. Click the Finish button to complete the configuration. Note 1: You will probably want to check the box Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop.
