Mail Settings for Mail 1.0

Key Settings:

Incoming Mail Server = mail.mhtc.net

Outgoing Mail Server = smtp.mhtc.net

   Editing existing e-mail accounts:

Macintosh Mail is an e-mail program made by Macintosh for use on Macintosh OS X.  There are a few slight changes between the Mail program that comes with OS X (10.0 -10.1) and OS X Jaguar (10.2).

Note:  these screenshots cover Mail for OS X 10.0- 10.1.

To edit existing e-mail accounts in Mail, follow these steps:

On the Toolbar, click Mail and select Preferences from the menu.

The Mail Preferences window appears.

Click the Accounts button at the top to see the screen as shown below.

Your existing accounts are listed on the left.

To add another e-mail account, click the Create Account button.

Select the Account Information tab to see the screen below.

Description  =  Enter a name for the e-mail account.  It doesn't matter what you call it, but it should be distinctive.  This will help you distinguish it from any other e-mail accounts you create.
Email Address  =  Enter your e-mail address.
Full Name  =  Enter your name.

Host Name = mail.mhtc.net
User Name  =  Enter your e-mail username (everything before the @).
Password  =  Enter your password.

SMTP Authentication:

At the bottom of the Account Information tab enter the following settings.

SMTP Host = smtp.mhtc.net

Select the Account Options tab.

The main feature we want to mention on the Account Options tab is the option to "Delete messages on server after downloading".

You should place a check in "Delete messages on server after downloading".  Otherwise, your mailbox at your ISP may eventually fill up and then you won't be able to get new messages.
