Opening the Network Preferences:

To access the Network settings, click Apple, then Location, then Network Preferences.

Step 1:  Location menu:

The location menu lists all connections (e.g., Home, Work, Automatic) on your computer.

The "Show" menu and "Tabs" below the Location menu apply to the selected Location.

Select your connection -or- Make a new connection:

Select your location (connection) by clicking the up-down arrow to the right of the Location menu.

Your selected location will have a check-mark in front of it.

Name your location "MHTC DSL" and then click "OK"

Step 2:  Show menu:

The Show menu lists Connection types (Modem, Ethernet, AirPort) for this Location/Connection.

The "Tabs" below the Show menu change depending on the connection type.

Set the Connection Type to Ethernet:

Click the up-down arrow to the right of the Show menu.

Then select Built-in Ethernet to return to the Tab view for the connection.

Step 3:  Edit the Location/Connection:

This is the third step in verifying the settings for your connection.

Select the TCP/IP tab.

Configure  =  If it's not selected, select Using DHCP from the drop-down menu.
DNS Servers =  Should be left blank.  
Search Domains  =  Should be left blank.

PPPoE tab:

The PPPoE tab should be blank, as shown below.

AppleTalk tab:

The AppleTalk tab should also be left blank, as shown below.

After configuring these three tabs, click Apply Now in the bottom right corner of the screen.  Close the screens.
